Abstract
Tick-borne diseases constitute a highly significant and continuously increasing health problem in Poland and Europe. The aim of the study is to discuss the most common infections caused by Borrelia burgdorferi s.l. and tick-borne encephalitis viruses, which are the most frequently reported tick-borne diseases in humans in European countries. The analysis included information on the nature of the etiological agent, clinical symptoms, diagnostic methods, treatment, and epidemiology of the mentioned diseases, collected based on current medical publications available in scientific databases. The study illustrates the scale of the problem and also draws attention to proper prophylaxis and appropriately selected diagnostics for patients with symptoms of infectious diseases.
