You are cordially invited to collaborate with the journal and submit articles from all fields of medicine in the form of review papers, original papers and case reports.

Available data and projections on mental health show that mental disorders are a serious and growing problem worldwide.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis in its aftermath have put a huge strain on the mental health of the entire population. Work-related psychosocial risks have increased, with more and more people experiencing stress, anxiety and suffering from depression, yet mental health is not prioritised like physical health. Figures from the European Commission indicate that around 84 million of the 448 million people across the EU experience mental health problems. These not only cause suffering for specific individuals and their families, but also have financial implications for society as a whole. It is estimated that the total cost of treatment and social security benefits for mental health disorders in the 27 EU countries and the UK is more than 4 per cent of GDP, or more than €600 billion per year.

In our country, almost twice as many people lose their lives to suicide as to traffic accidents as a result of mental disorders. The study 'Epidemiology of psychiatric disorders and availability of psychiatric health care', that 3% of the Polish working-age population has had at least one depressive episode of any severity in their lifetime to date .

Given the importance of the problem, I have decided that we will publish the World Mental Health Report by the World Health Organisation in future issues of the Review of Medical Practice.

Yours sincerely
